The thing with FL was starting with 11 they began pushing away the "blocks" crowd... knowing it was coming was why I got 10....
People make it sound easy to use "anything else" but I actually got pretty close to like a full drum kit mix (I had a phase where I stopped playing actual instruments because "I can just sequence rock tracks better").
If you really learn what you're doing with FPC, the step sequencer really just can't compete.
The really goofy sounds remind me of FL but I think using it to create a beat to layer on top of (with Audacity, Ardour, etc) is the best use case right now.
