Hello eerybody,
I've been tinkering with a piano library offering 9 different microphone perspectives of a Steinway D.
The mics used are:
1 House ORTF: Schoeps cmc64—cardioids
2 House Wide Cardioid: Microtech Gefell M950—wide-cardioids
3 Decca Tail: Schoeps cmc62S—omni-directionals
4 Stage Lid ORTF: Sanken CU41—cardioids
5 Stage Lid Omni: Schoeps cmc62—omni-directionals
6 Lip Cardioid: DPA 4011—cardioids
7 Harp Omnis: DPA 4060—omni-directionals
8 Piano Bar: Earthworks—omni-directionals
Plus a Binaural: Neumann KU100 player's perspective that I'm not interested in.
I'd like to layer 2/3 different perspectives (preferably on a straight line) to create a richer sound for playing jazz piano solo.
I'd like to hear tips and guidelines, particularly about combining SD and LD microphones, and cardioids with omnis, and also the ideal percentage of each perspective for a balanced mix.
Thanks in advance for your time and expertise.
