I have been running Ubuntu Studio Linux for 5 years. I have for the last year and a bit ran an audio interface:

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen. I have had no issues or crashes. I consider this to be 100% reliable if it's what you're looking for. In fact I leave it on now 24/7, in effect replacing my computer's own sound card. Moreover it is dead easy in Ubuntu Studio KDE 22.04 to switch between the Focusrite and your computer's sound card; you left click on the sound icon on the top right hand side of the desktop [for me] and change as desired in the dropdown menu.

I followed the great video by UNFA on YouTube a year ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zFA5piXf8Q

Take note of his instructions; there are a few things to do that are not hard but they make your install better. Take note of your kernel number; it should not be a problem though at this stage.

I cannot comment on the Focusrite 4th Gen; I've done a little research into it. But I've pushed the 3rd Gen focusrite pretty hard with soft synths like Serum under WINE and the 3rd Gen has been fine. I've had no over runs or under runs or crackles etc. It's been great, clear audio for my music and voice over.
