Hi there
I keep exeprimenting various audio settings and get some encouraging results but weird things too.
I started having problems with Reaper which stopped working with my Studio Capture soundcard when using Jack (I believe it happened after I made latency tests in Cables, not sure, maybe something else happened)
I tried to clean all by reinitializing Pipewire and after experimenting new connections with xpwgraph I found that I manage to route sounds in different ways depending on softwares
- Reaper works again with StudioCapture (playback and recording) - but only when chosing PulseAudio in its audio preferences. But Reaper gets disconnected each time I quit : when i reopen qpwgraph I see its connected again to built-in audio and I have to connect again manually to the StudioCapture
- Bitwig finally works with StudioCapture (playback and recording)- but only when choosing PW
- Hydrogen works with StudioCapture when using Jack
- Firefox : I manage to get sound from it only through the built-in sound card. In qpwgraph, I connected it to the playback ports of the StudioCapture but each time I return to Firefox there is no sound and when i return to qpwgraph I see the connection to playback ports of the StudioCapture haven been replaced by connections to the built-in audio. And after a while Firefox disappeared from xpwgraph.
Now I imagine something like using a physical cable/adapter to route the output of my built-in audio to some inputs of my StudioCapture, although fearing to create some feedback loop.
More generally, I noticed now a 3rd block of the StudioCapture in qpwgraph : Capture which will finally allow me to record properly (few days ago i had only Playback and Monitor) ![]()
So overall I get something functional for my DAWs which was my 1st important goal, but I'm still confused by the different ways each software uses PW, Jack or PulseAudio
But I'll keep reading searching and learning ![]()
