The SSL18 requires a proprietary application to access all of its features, which is not available on Linux, but sound can get in and out of it due to being class compliant. SSL is surely not going to port their application to Linux. The iD48 requires a proprietary application as well, but a bigger issue is it does not appear to be class compliant, meaning it won't work on Linux at all. Audient is surely not going to develop any kernel support for this device or port their application to Linux. Focusrite devices are a much better choice for Linux users.
What makes Focusrite devices a better choice for Linux users compared to SSL18 and iD48?
