Let's keep it civil and on topic : I believe the matter at hand is not how latency compensation works or how to calibrate it, but rather why does OP gets different results when measuring roundtrip time with alsa vs jack while the settings seem identical. Ardour will not let you do the same measurement as it doesn't allow disabling latency compensation (you can disable plugin latency compensation but that a different story) and always gets recordings aligned (provided systemic latency is calibrated). (edit: well, actually if you get misaligned recordings between alsa and jack in ardour then that'd show there is something wrong). Unless someone else is willing to do some comparison between reaper / jack_iodelay / alsa_delay, your best option is to use alsa_delay to find out whether reaper is right or not.
