Hi @ketil,
Sorry for the delay in replying; I've been out of town, away from all my Scarletts. I just got back and plugged in my 3rd Gen 18i8, installed Manjaro and vokoscreenNG, and I've got some suggestions/solutions for you if you want to use vokoscreen again.
First install qpwgraph so you can see the pipewire audio connections. When I run vokoscreen and hit record, this is what I see in the qpwgraph window:
So clearly vokoscreen is doing a stereo recording from the first two PCM capture channels from the Scarlett. This clearly explains why you only get audio on the left when you play back, and hints towards the solution.
Within alsa-scarlett-gui, if you open up the routing window, it will look something like this:
What we're interested in is what's going to the PCM Inputs 1 & 2 at the top on the right side. See how they are connected to Hardware Inputs Analogue 1 & 2? If you change the PCM Input 2 connection to go to Analogue 1, then your vokoscreen 2-channel stereo recording will have your mic on the left and the right channels, like this:
Programs like Reaper are designed to work with multichannel sound cards, and there is no problem with recording multiple mono or stereo channels independently and mixing them however you like afterwards. But with programs like vokoscreen which can only record 2 channels, then you need to get a bit creative with the PCM Input routing in alsa-scarlett-gui.
Regards,
Geoffrey.
